Alright, so you got some fresh new ink! That's awesome!
To make sure it heals up perfectly and stays looking amazing, here are some really important things to keep in mind. Think of it like giving your new art the best possible start in life.
♥
Bandage
Keep your second-skin on for 3-5 days. It's like a superhero shield for your tattoo, protecting it while still letting your skin breathe. This bandage is water-resistant, so quick showers are totally fine, but please don't go submerging it in water (no baths or long soaks!).
It's normal to see some fluid hanging out under the bandage—don't poke it! If it leaks or the bandage lifts right over your tattoo, it's time to take it off. If only the edges are lifting, no worries, you can let it be. And if it feels uncomfortable at any point, feel free to take it off sooner.
When it's time to unwrap your new art, remove the bandage under lukewarm water, pulling it close to the skin to avoid tearing. Wash with unscented soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of ointment.
If worn for 5 days without issues, it's ready to come off. Don’t wear it longer than 5 days, but keeping it on for at least 1-2 days is recommended.
follow these tips and let your new ink shine
For the first 2–3 weeks after removing the bandage, apply a thin layer of ointment 3–5 times a day. Keep the area moisturized and avoid letting the skin dry out. Please don’t use sunscreen or any other products on your tattoo until it’s completely healed.
Avoid swimming, heavy sweating, and direct sun exposure during the healing process. It’s best to stay away from saunas, beaches, and gyms to reduce the risk of infection. Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo. Also, try to limit intense workouts, as too much movement can irritate the area or cause scarring.
Don’t soak your tattoo in water or expose it to direct sunlight. Some light peeling is normal—just let it happen naturally and avoid picking at it. Keeping the tattoo moisturized and protected will help it heal beautifully.
Healing takes time, so be patient with the process!
product recommendations
For tattoo aftercare, we recommend using products like Hustle Butter or Mad Rabbit—both are known for their high-quality, skin-friendly ingredients. You can easily find them on Amazon or through their official Instagram pages.
You can buy Hustle Butter products at our shop or get a discount code to order from Mad Rabbit, feel free to ask, we are always glad to help make your aftercare routine as smooth as possible ;)
We suggest avoiding petroleum-based products like Vaseline or Aquaphor, as they can block the skin from breathing properly. Organic coconut oil is also a great natural moisturizer, as long as it’s pure and free of added scents or extracts.
If you’re ever unsure about a product, feel free to send it our way—we’re happy to take a look and give you some guidance.
